Ghizer police set up women complaint centre

GILGIT: Ghizer police have set up a women complaint centre to encourage them to speak up about their social problems and tackle the increasing suicides among women in the district, as this year alone police have registered 11 cases of women committing suicide.

Talking to this correspondent, Ghizer police chief Mirza Hassan said that the centre was set up to encourage women to lodge their complaints so that the increasing trend of suicides among women could be discouraged.

He said that the women would feel comfortable to let police help them overcome their social problems.

WATAN CARDS: Chief Minister Mehdi Shahhas taken notice of media reports concerning issuance of Watan Cards to undeserving persons, officials said.

They said that the chief minister had asked the deputy commissioner, Ghizer, to conduct an inquiry into issuance of Watan Cards to undeserving people and submit the report to him within a week.

He said that these initiatives had been taken to provide relief to the deserving flood-affected people.
