QUETTA: Shirkat Gah Women’s Resource Centre, in collaboration with the National Commission for Human Rights, hosted a productive roundtable consultation on Monday.

The focus of this gathering was to collect essential information to prepare the sixth periodic report per the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).

The discussions delved into several critical areas, including recent legislation, pending bills, support mechanisms, policies, and strategic roadmaps to promote gender equality and women’s rights.

Participating stakeholders encompassed representatives from various government departments, among whom were Additional Inspector General Police Jawwad Ahmed Dogar, Secretary Home Saleh M Nasir, Additional Secretary Law & Legislation Shoukat Ali Malik, and other prominent figures.

Deliberations revolved around a wide array of themes, such as healthcare, forensic reporting, medico-legal training, child marriage, education for school children, combating domestic violence, addressing Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG), and strategies for economic empowerment.
