Sir: It is heartening to see Malala Yousafzai — the young girl who took a bullet to speak up for female education in the troubled Swat valley of Pakistan — recovering from her ordeal and smiling. Recently, she was reunited with her friend, Shazia Ramzan, who was also wounded in the brutal daylight attack. Shazia has been allowed by the UK government to complete her medical studies in the UK because of growing threats against her and her family. I salute our British friends for always providing inroads and opportunities to those who do not have the same in their own country.
