Four held for ‘honour killing’ in Kohat

KOHAT: The police on Friday claimed to have arrested four persons for allegedly killing their sister over an honour-related issue in the limits of Jarma Police Station.

Talking to reporters, Station House Officer (SHO) Jarma Police Station Qismat Khan said that the police were tipped off that the family members were about to bury the body of a young woman (S) in a hurry to cover up something suspicious at the Surgul village. He said that the police party headed by him reached the village and took the body into custody and shifted it to a hospital for post-mortem.

The official said the doctor disclosed that her death was not natural but caused by strangulation. He said that the police launched an investigation and finally rounded up four brothers, Rehmat Khan, Salim Khan, Suleman Khan and Khalid Khan, sons of Misal Khan, and booked them under relevant sections of the law. The cop said that the accused were produced in the local court where they confessed to have strangulated her to death over her relationship with someone.
