Fatima seeks end to gender discrimination

Karachi, Jan 26: Provincial Minister for Women Development Tauqeer Fatima Bhutto said on Monday that women could get their rights in the society by only bringing an end to gender discrimination.

This she said while addressing a seminar organized by Women Development Department in collaboration with the United Nations Development Fund for Women. The minister said democratic government is fulfilling the mission of Shaheed Banazir Bhutto by providing due rights to women according to the Islamic Ideology.

The government has established Gender Reform Action Plan for women rights and security at provincial level, she said, adding the government would support and provide legal aid to both urban and rural women under this plan.

She said women development ministry have received suggestions from women rights organizations for amending the laws on women rights.
