KARACHI: Stressing the need for economic and social empowerment of women in the country, Mariyam Farhan, renowned fashion designer, said that it was admirable that women were standing up for themselves and making achievements in every field.

She was speaking as chief guest at an art exhibition featuring works of women designers on the eve of the Zaraish exhibition organised at a shopping mall in Clifton here.

A statement on Sunday said that “Zaraish” is an excellent opportunity to appreciate the remarkable contribution of women to our society and to honour the empowerment of women. The show included works by senior women designers of Pakistan as well as those by young upcoming ones, both from Karachi and the rest of the country. Zaraish showcased a range of women wear and accessories designed by various aspiring designers.
