Employers, doctor booked for maid’s murder
ISLAMABAD, May 2: The father of a housemaid who died in Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) last week has accused her employers, a PIMS doctor and an unidentified woman, who attended her of murder.
MI, the maid, was brought to Pims on April 23 at 2am by a man who identified himself as Sikandar and vanished. She died by 10am.
An autopsy by Pims determined that she died of complications of a badly done abortion and that it was a second abortion.
Sources said the father, a resident of Sargodha, registered a case on Wednesday – a week after her death – with the Shalimar Police alleging that the son of her daughter’s employer had developed illicit relations with her and impregnated her.
The complainant also nominated the female doctor of the Pims, who provided treatment to his daughter in the hospital.
The police said that the complainant lodged the complaint after a week and claimed that the complainant knew the man very well who brought the housemaid in the hospital.
The police are trying to trace the man, identified as Sikander, a maternal relative of the girl, who brought her in the hospital.
The police said the body samples of the deceased had already been sent to chemical examiner and DNA test.
The police are also trying to trace the midwife who conducted abortion on the deceased which resulted in her death.
The hospital staff provided the girl emergency treatment to save her life. After diagnosing her problem, doctors suggested emergency surgery on the girl and asked the man to arrange blood for her but he disappeared.
The girl gave the telephone number of her employer when the hospital administration asked her to give the contact number of her family or anyone who knew her.
The administration informed the employer about the patient’s who arrived at the hospital and arranged blood. Later the employer told the maid’s father that his daughter was seriously ill and in the hospital. The housemaid died 10 minutes before they could arrival, when doctors preparing to operate her.
The man alleged that her daughter’s employer gave him Rs14,000 and asked him to take the girl’s body to Sargodha and perform her burial quietly.
An autopsy was conducted to ascertain the cause of her death. Later the body was handed over to her family who took it to Sargodha for burial.
