Dr Shama likely to be governor of Gilgit-Baltistan

ISLAMABAD: The government has finally made a decision to appoint a woman governor of Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) and in this race the name of a prominent social worker Dr Shama Khalid emerged as the front runner.

According to sources, the notification for the appointment of first ever woman governor of G-B will be issued within a day or two and it is likely that Dr Shamma Khalid will be appointed to this post.

In this regard, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Monday held a meeting with Dr Shama Khalid at the Prime Minister House. Dr Shama Khalid, it may be mentioned, is a leading social worker who has voluntarily worked in different parts of G-B by establishing free summer medical camps every year.
