SUKKUR: The Ghotki police on Monday arrested another suspect for setting a woman and her daughter on fire after sexually assaulting them in Menhoon Mahar village within Khenjoo police limits. Khenjoo SHO Waheed Murad Pathan, speaking to The Express Tribune, said that a suspect, Gul Hassan Mochi, was arrested last Sunday and was produced in court on Monday, where he was remanded to police custody for three days. He said efforts were underway to arrest the remaining suspects. The police earlier arrested Noor Hassan Mochi, while a third suspect, Hashim Mochi, is still at large. Sources claimed that the police were reluctant to arrest the key suspect, landlord Menhoon Mahar, despite the fact that the apex court had taken notice of the incident and ordered the police to arrest all those involved. They further alleged that Gul was arrested 20 days ago and was kept at Mahar’s residence, only being produced in court due to mounting pressure by the media and the relatives of the victims.
