HYDERABAD: A man shot dead his female cousin before killing himself in the latter’s house located in the London Town area within the jurisdiction of the Qasimabad police station on Monday.
Imtiaz Malik, 30, son of Ghulam Rasool Malik, went to the house of his maternal uncle within his neighbourhood and shot his cousin, Mahtab Malik, 26, and then himself. They were taken to the Liaquat University Hospital (LUH), where Mahtab was pronounced dead on arrival and Malik was admitted to the hospital’s intensive care unit. However, he too succumbed to his injuries.
Initial investigations by police suggested that Malik was married but issueless. He was interested in marrying Mahtab. Mothers of Malik and Mahtab are sisters. Malik’s maternal aunt finally turned down the proposal for his second marriage with Mahtab which might have led him to take the extreme action.
Mahtab’s parents did not allow her post-mortem to be performed. Malik’s post-mortem was, however, performed at the LUH.
