Court orders police to protect woman
SUKKUR: The Sindh High Court, Sukkur division bench, on Monday directed the Sindh and Punjab police to provide protection to Ms Sumaira, resident of Okara, against former MNA Rao Yasin of Okara.
Ms Sumaira had filed a petition in the SHC through her lawyer Qurban Malano. She alleged in her petition that former MNA Rao Yasin had forcibly married her and had assaulted her criminally before marriage.
She stated that she had filed a case in the family court of Rohri, seeking divorce from Rao Yasin, due to which he was issuing threats to her.
On Monday Shafqat Rahim Rajput advocate for Rao Yasin produced an affidavit before the single bench comprising Justice Salman Ansari, in which he had denied harassment charges, levelled against him by his wife Sumaira.
However, the court dismissing the petition, directed Sindh and Punjab police to provide protection to Ms Sumaira and advised the petitioner to file a suit in Lahore High Court for registration of an FIR against Rao Yasin.
