Court orders DNA tests to identify husband

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad circuit bench of the Sindh High Court on Thursday ordered the civil hospital to carry out DNA tests of two men, a woman and her son after the men claimed to be her husband during hearing of a constitutional petition.

Mr Bhagwandas, counsel for the petitioner Qasim Halepoto, said that his client stated in the petition that his in-laws had kidnapped Ms Shabana after he had married her of her own free will and prayed the court to get her recovered.

Police recovered the woman from Jacobabad and produced her in the court along with her three-year-old son, the counsel said, adding that the case became complicated after one Hussain Bux who accompanied her claimed he was her husband and rejected Qasim Halepoto’s claim.

The court sent the woman to Darul Aman after recording her statement.

The court had ordered the DNA test on the last date of hearing but it was informed on Thursday that the civil hospital lacked the facility to carry out the test and it was done only in Lahore.

The woman said that she wanted to go with her mother and claimed that she was Hussain Bux’s wife.

The court directed medical superintendent of the civil hospital to get the DNA test of the two men, woman and her son done from Lahore and submit a report.
