Court grants death sentence to man for killing wife, minor daughter for 2nd marriage

Rawalpindi   – Additional District and Session Judge (ADSJ) Muhammad Afzal Majuka on Thursday awarded death sentence on two counts to a government officer who had killed his wife and minor daughter in Naseerabad area.

The convicted government (BPS-17) officer identified as Mujahid Ali was serving at Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Islamabad. Naseerabad police had arrested the government officer Mujahid Ali in January, 2021 in connection with murders of his wife Hina Ishfaq and daughter Inaya Mujahid. The killer confessed before the investigators to have stagulated his wife and 18-month-old daughter during the investigation.  Mujahid Ali probably killed his wife and daughter so that he could marry another woman.

The suspect confessed that he killed his wife and continued sleeping beside the dead body with her daughter for two-three days. Later, he killed the child too.

ADSJ Muhammad Afzal Majuka took up double murder case during which the prosecution argued that the man had killed his wife and daughter for second marriage.

He added the killer confessed before the investigators about his crime. He said the killer was so clever that he got admitted in an hospital pretending to be a coronavirus positive patient after killing wife and daughter. Earlier, Mujahid Ali had approached Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench after a lower court rejected his bail plea.

Justice Sohail Nasir of LHC Rawalpindi Bench had ordered the session court on June 28 to complete trial of the case within one month. However, ADSJ Muhammad Afzal Majuka had completed trial in double murder case in seven days and granted death penalty to the killer besides ordering the convict to pay Rs1 million compensation to the heir of deceased. CPO Rawalpindi Muhammad Ahsan Younas, on the other hand, appreciated the decision of court. He said the investigation wing of Rawalpindi police have presented substantial evidences against the accused before court of law to get him punished.  He said police have adopted zero tolerance policy against those involved in crimes against women and children.
