KASUR: A newly-wed couple was shot dead for the sake of honour in Sheikhpura village in the limits of Ganda singh wala police station on Friday.

Police said Safia Bibi had left her house and contracted marriage with Asif Javid of the same village some months back.

On Friday, the couple returned to the village where they were shot dead by some unidentified assailants.

The police were looking into the matter.
