Couple killed for marrying without families’ consent

MANSEHRA: A couple travelling in a passenger bus were shot dead for having eloped to Karachi and getting married without the consent of their families, here on Thursday night, police said.

Officials said the woman, who was already married, had eloped with Abdul Malik, a resident of Kohistan, to Karachi and the two had got married three months ago.

They were coming back to Kohistan in a bus from Karachi when they were attacked near Mansehra.

Sources said the bus stopped for refreshments at a roadside hotel near Mansehra and all the passengers got off, but the couple stayed inside. Suddenly, an armed man climbed into the vehicle and opened fire on the woman and the man, killing them on the spot.

The bodies were taken to the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital for autopsy and later handed over to their relatives.
