Couple commit suicide

Karachi: A newly married couple, shattered by their families’ disapproval of their love marriage, committed suicide by jumping in front of a passenger train near Baloch Colony on Monday.Sajid, 23, and his wife Sonia, 20, had eloped from their native town of Vehari, and contracted a court marriage in Okara on May 2, police said. The couple then came to Karachi where they stayed with one of Sajid’s uncles, Saleem. Both families later demanded of Saleem to bring the couple back. Disheartened by this news, the couple escaped and ended their own lives.
