Civil judge arrested in rape case

Peshawar   –  Police have arrested a senior civil judge serving in Timergara, Lower Dir district, in a rape case.

A report lodged at Balambat Police Station in Lower Dir on November 25 stated that senior civil judge Muhammad Jamshed Kundi was arrested on the complaint of Dua, a woman hailing from Nishtar Abad locality in Peshawar, who alleged the civil judge had harassed her at his official bungalow in Lower Dir.

The woman in her report alleged that she had given gold jewellery to the civil judge with an aim to use his influence for getting a job for her sister. However, she alleged that on November 25, the judge asked her to accompany him to Lower Dir to return the gold ornaments as he could not arrange the job. The complainant said that she travelled with the judge to Timergara in official car, and   the judge allegedly raped her.

The senior civil judge was arrested and presented before the court, which remanded him to police custody. Meanwhile, the PHC suspended the judge.
