KARACHI – There is a need to establish a women university in Karachi.
As a matter of fact, the population of the metropolis has increased rapidly over the years, exceeding the 15 million mark with majority of women and there is no single public university for women in the City.
Fifteen years have been elapsed, Fatima Jinnah University for Women was established in Rawalpindi with the sole purpose to provide quality education only to female students.
It has been observed that the percentage of female students in University of Karachi is above than male students. Many parents do not allow their daughters to pursue higher education because of the coeducation at the university.
If the women’s university in the city is established, more female students will continue their higher studies. Sindh government as well as federal government should put their sincere efforts in establishing a women’s university in Karachi. –Contributed by Mushtaq Ali Gilal
