Case against fake ‘pir’ for killing woman

VEHARI: Gagoo police on Saturday registered a murder case against a fake ‘pir’ who had tortured to death a married woman in a bid to get her free of a genie at his residence at Chak 134-EB, some 50 kilo metres from here, on Friday.

Reports said some relatives told Muhammad Nawaz of Gulberg, Lahore, that Maulvi Jan Muhammad was expert in getting rid of any kind of genie from the human body.

On Friday, Nawaz reached the village here and handed his wife Perveen Bibi, 22, whom he thought was overpowered by a genie, over to Maulvi Jan Muhammad.

The ‘pir’ locked the woman in a room of his house and started beating her severely with a stick to drive the genie out from her body.

The woman kept crying for some half an hour, but the pir continued with his brutalities till she died.

As soon as the calm prevailed, the pir, sensing something had gone wrong, managed to slip away from the back door of his house.

Gagoo Station House Officer Muhammad Afzal said that a murder case had been registered against accused Maulvi Jan Muhammad.

The body of the woman was handed over to her husband after the post-mortem examination.

Dr Shama, who conducted the post-mortem at the Vehari DHQ Hospital, said the initial report confirmed that the deceased was severely tortured.
