LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Q MPA Samina Khawar Hayat has said that the Punjab government, which claims to be the flagbearer of justice, has ignored the cries of Kiran Amjad, who was mutilated, raped and murdered.
Addressing a press conference at the Lahore Press Club on Sunday, accompanied by the family of the late Kiran Amjad, she said that she had informed Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif of the injustice and violence committed in the Arifwala case yet he took no action to help the family or bring the offenders to justice.
She alleged that the whole system, including the police and the medical staff at the Arifwala hospital, forged documents and tortured Kiran’s paternal aunt and midwife to get forced statement that the murdered girl was a prostitute and died due to faulty abortion.
She said that the medico-Legal report submitted by Dr Ghulam Abbas revealed that the girl was not only gang-raped but also even after her death, the doctors mutilated her body to fabricate it as a case of abortion rather than rape.
She said that the secretary health had only issued suspension orders of the hospital staff, who were acting as an aide to the crime. She commended the role of Prime Minister Gilani, who launched a high-level investigation into the matter. She said that members of the PML-N were involved in backing the criminals involved in this brutal act.
