KARACHI: Women activists have called for empowerment of women cops, particularly those assigned responsibilities at Women Police Station.
Sarah Zaman, Project Coordinator and Member Working Committee of WAR, talking to APP here Monday said the Women Police Station, lying almost dormant, needs to be urgently reactivated.
“It must ensure effective execution by extending women police officers the same powers as those to their men colleagues,” said the activist.
Sarah Zaman regretted that presently women police officers are not authorised even to file FIRs, investigate cases and make arrests.
Khalida Qudoosi, another activist, underscored the need to centralise the processing of rape cases in the Women Police Stations.
