Burnt lady councillor shifted to Karachi hospital

Thirty-five year old Gulnaz, wife of Pervaiz Akhtar received serious burn injuries in an acid attack at her residence in Unit No.1 0 Latifabad on Monday night.
Dr. Khalid Qureshi of Civil Hospital told Daily Times that the lady had injuries on her chest, arms and legs and she was about 35% burnt. He said the victim had wet burns caused by wet inflammable material, however he said acid throwing did not cause it.
Dr. Qureshi said that as per his knowledge the lady was burned due to an explosion in the stove. He said she was admitted in the burns ward of his hospital but later the relatives took her to the Civil Hospital, Karachi.
When contacted, MQM Hyderabad zonal organizer, Siraj Rajput denied any attack on the lady. He claimed the lady was not hurt in any attack but she was burnt due to bursting of a stove in her house. No relative of the lady was available for comments.
Tne police, however, said that Pervaiz lodged a complaint immediately after the attack at police station.
When contacted duty officer at B Section Latifabad police station HC Abdul Qadir told that they registered his complaint in the daily diary of the police station. He said the husband said an unidentified person knocked at the door of their house at around 10:40 pm on Monday and when his wife opened the door he showered her with acid and fled.
He said investigation has started but no clue of the attacker could be found as yet. He said the FIR of the attack would be lodged after the lady’s husband returned from Karachi.
