Burnt body of unidentified young woman found near railway track in Bahawalpur

On January 25, Bahawalpur police launched an investigation following the discovery of a burnt body of an unidentified young woman near the Sammasatta railway track. The body, found concealed under bushes near Chak 8/BC within the jurisdiction of Baghdadul Jadid Police Station, was severely burnt, complicating identification efforts.

According to the local police, they were alerted to the presence of the body, which was estimated to be of a woman aged between 20 and 25 years. The gruesome state of the body with severe burns on the face and body made it impossible to identify the victim at the scene. The remains were subsequently moved to Bahawal Victoria Hospital for a post-mortem examination and DNA testing to assist in identification.

District Police Officer (DPO) Rana Abdul Wahab commented on the case, stating that all aspects of this distressing incident were being thoroughly examined and that efforts to identify the victim were ongoing.

In a separate but possibly related incident in Bahawalpur city, a 60-year-old woman named Khursheed Bibi suffered severe burns in an accident at her home in Nazirabad Colony. Authorities reported that her clothing caught fire from a gas stove, leading to burns across her body and face. She was promptly taken to the same hospital, Bahawal Victoria Hospital, for treatment.

The police have registered a case against unidentified persons under the suspicion of murder following the initial findings at the crime scene near the railway track. Items such as a pair of glasses, a shoe, and a ring found near the body are being examined as part of the investigation.

The local police have assured that the investigation is being handled with the utmost seriousness to uncover the circumstances surrounding the young woman’s death and to bring those responsible to justice. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
