Bailiff frees girl from police custody

RAWALPINDI, July 18: A court bailiff on directives of the district and sessions judge (DSJ) here on Friday recovered a married girl from the illegal custody of Woman Police Station and handed her over to her father-in-law.

DSJ Attaullah Kosar also directed SHO of the police station and complainant Abdul Razzak, father-in-law of the girl, to appear in the court on Saturday for further proceedings.

According to a police source, the bailiff recovered Saman Iqbal and found no record of her arrest or registration of any case against her.

Mr Razzak in his application said his daughter-in-law had been detained in the police station since Thursday.

Interestingly, father of the girl – Khalid Iqbal – lodged an abduction case with the R.A. Bazaar police after she, class-VII student, went missing. She was recovered by the police and handed over to the woman police that failed to maintain her record.

Meanwhile, in another case the DSJ directed superintendent Darul Aman to submit her reply within a week to a petition alleging that she did not produce a girl on court orders and received gratification.

The petitioner – Kaleem Rasool Bhatti – alleged in his plea that he got recovered his fiance from the unlawful detention a week ago and the court sent her to Darul Aman.

The superintendent was to produce the girl in the court of a judicial magistrate on Thursday but told the court in written that she had been directed by the magistrate on phone to bring her on Friday.

He further alleged that the superintendent received money from him to let him marry his fiance.
