Another teenager sexually assaulted in capital

By Arsalan Altaf

ISLAMABAD: Police on Monday arrested two men for allegedly raping a teenaged boy in a suburb of the capital.

This is the second sexual assault case against a teenager which has been reported from the same area of the capital, Shahzad Town, in as many days.

According to the victim’s family and the police, the 16-year-old boy had allegedly been assaulted by two of his cousins in an under-construction building in Alipur in Shahzad Town on April 20.

The victim, however, did not tell anyone the ordeal he had suffered because his suspected rapists had threatened to upload onto Facebook compromising pictures of the victim from the assault if he disclosed the incident.

But the boy finally broke his silence before his family three days later, after which the matter was reported to the police and a formal complaint was lodged.

Shahzad Town police have managed to arrest the two suspects. While producing them before the court, the police managed to obtain their custody for three days.

A police officer told The Express Tribune that a medical examination carried out by doctors had confirmed the sexual assault.

Moreover, the officer said that the victim and the two suspects*, aged 20 and 22 respectively, were first cousins. Further, the boy had claimed that the suspects had in their possession pictures of the boy in a compromising state.

The officer claimed that during interrogation, the suspects had confessed to committing the crime.

Earlier on April 21, a 17-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted by a group of eight men in the nearby Tarlai area.
