SIALKOT: Another female became a victim of honour-killings as two of her cousins shot her dead as a punishment for marrying by choice in Nangal Mirza village in Pasrur Tehsil.
Madeeha, daughter of a local trader Mushtaq Butt, married Azam by choice three months ago. He parents reconciled with the marriage but two of her cousins, Shahid Butt and Fahad Butt, took it to their heart and refused to accept the marriage.
On Thursday evening, Shahid and Fahad stormed Madeeha’s home and shot her dead. They also shouted that they have punished her for doing love marriage.
The police have registered a murder case against the two with no arrest so far. The body was handed over to the family after autopsy.
It was the second incident of its kind in the area during the last eight days. Earlier, newlyweds Sajjad Ahmed and Muafia were beheaded by the members of girl’s family for marrying by choice in the Satrah town of Daska Tehsil on June 26.
