ISLAMABAD – The government has virtually planned to get controversial ‘Anti-Honour Killing Bill’ passed in the joint session of parliament, likely in next week of this month.
“Government side has also planned to contact with religio-political parties, which opposed the contents of the bill,” said sources in PML-N while talking to The Nation yesterday.
The government ministers will soon hold meetings with both the parliamentary religious parties (JUI-F and Jamaat-e-Islami) to woo them to get controversial ‘Anti-Honour Killing Bill’ passed.
The sources said that the government side will also not hesitate to pass this bill in the upcoming joint session if these religious parties refused to accept their desire.
This controversial bill had been passed by the Upper House of Parliament but lapsed because of the government’s failure to get it through the National Assembly within the stipulated 90-day period.
Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar had also expressed the government’s willingness to get controversial ‘Anti-Honour Killing bill passed in the upcoming joint sitting.
Dar had also hinted to get support of all the political parties for passing this bill.
Likewise, the National Assembly session is likely to be summoned by the second week of next month.
Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has made a summary to submit it in National Assembly Secretariat to summon around two-week long National Assembly session.
“Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs will submit a summary to NA secretariat in this week,” the sources in National Assembly secretariat told The Nation.
