Relatives of slain girl hold protests

Islamabad, April 22: The family members of an eight-year-old girl, who was found dead on Tuesday, staged protest rally in front of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) alleging that she was murdered due to police negligence.

About 30 to 50 protestors, majority of them Kainat’s family members and neighbourers brought the body on the road and staged sit-in for more than an hour.

The protestors said the victim was kidnapped five months ago and police failed to recover her. Five accused were nominated by the victim’s father but police succeeded in arresting only three, and that too were released during the period of judicial remand, they added.

The SP also suspended the investigation officer of the case and issued a show cause notice to him. A fresh investigation was also started to trace and arrest the killer(s). Meanwhile, an autopsy on her body conducted at Pims on Tuesday suggested that she was subjected to sever torture, sources told Dawn.
