76 female assistant professors promoted

KARACHI: Sindh government issued a notification for the promotion of 76 female assistant professors (BPS-18) to associate professors (BPS-19).

The notification was issued by the Sindh Services and General Administration Department on the special directives of Sindh Chief Secretary Fazlur Rehman.

Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA) office-bearers Prof Aziz, Prof Athar Hussain Mirza and Prof Iftikhar Azami lauded the provincial government’s decision and the chief secretary’s interest on the matter regarding college teacher promotions.

Drawing the attention of authorities towards the remaining teachers, they said that 189 female assistant professors are still waiting to be promoted. If the Sindh Education Department had sent all the cases of the teachers to the Services department, the teachers waiting would have also been promoted, they said. They added that 348 male associate professors are also waiting for a promotion.

They demanded that the chief secretary take a personal interest in the promotion of the rest of the teachers and resolve their matters with the Finance Department.
