KARACHI: Chief Executive Officer Dawood Global Foundation (DGF) Tara Azra Dawood has announced that the 4th Ladies Fund Women Awards 2012 will be held on March 15.
Addressing a press conference at her office on Friday, Ladies Fund President Azra Dawood announced that the awards will be held at Mohatta Place Museum and 200 of the most dynamic and inspiring women of Pakistan would grace the ceremony.
Elaborating different categories of the awards, she said that ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ would be decided under the counseling of judges, ‘Women of The Year’ elected through nationwide online polling, ‘Trailblazer’ and ‘Khushhali Bank Idol’ would be decided by the judges.
The judges’ panel would include Nilofer Saeed, Sameera Raja, Shireen Naqvi, Naheed Mashooqullah and Shamain Faruque, she added.
The judges have nominated five individuals for the ‘Women of the Year’ award including Ameena Saiyid for spearheading the groundbreaking 3rd Karachi Literary Festival, Hina Rabbani Khar for being the youngest and first ever female foreign minister of Pakistan, Sana and Safinaz for their lawn tsunami, Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy for her Oscar winning film ‘Saving Face’, and Sherry Rehman for her appointment as the Ambassador to United Sates.
All winners will receive a plaque, a top of the line Nokia smartphone, a Thread & Motifs dress, a D philosophy from Deepak Parwani besides other giveaways, she said.
Shedding light on the Ladies Fund, Dawood said it was established in 2007 with the vision to provide financial security to women and promote and train women entrepreneurs. It aims to integrate the entrepreneurial needs based on the economic and social aspects of local communities.
Ladies Fund Brand Ambassadors Sameera Raja, Pomme Gohar, Nilofer Saeed, Spa Partner and Donour Lubna Qureshi and Student Advisor Maha Sarwar were also present on the occasion.
