Double honor killing shocks Vihari’s Machhiwal area

In a chilling incident, a double honour killing has rocked the Machhiwal area of Vihari, reported 24NewsHd TV channel Tuesday.

The tragedy unfolded in the 19 WB area, where two sisters, Afshan Bibi and Nishat Bibi, were brutally murdered by their brother, with the father and uncle also implicated in the crime.

The sisters had fled their home to marry men of their choice, a decision that deeply saddened and enraged their family.

Upon their return, facilitated by the local Panchayat, the brother, along with the father and uncle, allegedly took their lives in a heinous act of violence.

The accused have since fled the scene, prompting a police operation to apprehend them.

Body of missing minor girl found in river

DIR LOWER  –  The body of a four-year-old girl, Maria, who had been reported missing from her home in Mandaz village, Khazana area of Jandool tehsil, was discovered in River Panjkora, the police revealed on Thursday.

Authorities stated that the young girl, identified as Maria, had gone missing from her residence in Mandaz village. Her lifeless body was subsequently found in River Panjkora.

Woman ‘sexually assaulted’

TAXILA: Wah Cantonment police booked a man for ‘sexually assaulting’ a woman, filming her naked and blackmailing her through these videos. The woman has reported to police that her neighbor assaulted her besides filming her naked during the assault and later kept blackmailing her through these videos.

Police have registered a case and launched a search for the nominated accused.

Woman tortured, head forcibly shaved

Two men allegedly tortured a young woman and shaved her head on Thursday. Police registered a case and launched raids to arrest the suspects.

Rashid Ali, a resident of 451 GB, lodged a complaint with City Samundri police alleging that Shehzad and Shoaib allegedly tortured his 21-year-old cousin in the courtyard of her house.

The accused suspected the victim of having a relationship and allegedly shaved her head after severely beating her with sticks. Also, the suspects allegedly tortured the victim after keeping her imprisoned in a room for seven or eight days.

The police recovered the girl, had her medical examination carried out and started raids to arrest the accused. City Samundri Police registered a case against Shehzad and Shoaib.

Unfortunately, acts of violence and humiliation against women remain commonplace across Punjab. In December of last year, a man allegedly tortured his wife and chopped off her hair during an argument.

Nayi Samundari resident Shiraz had a dispute with his wife, Anila Rasool, over her refusal to give him money. Shiraz allegedly tortured her and cut her hair off with scissors. The incident was reported to authorities, who filed a report against Shiraz and launched raids to search for him. According to sources, Shiraz is a drug addict

Similarly, in a very high-profile case in August of last year, police had arrested six people accused of kidnapping a woman and her brother and subjecting them to torture.

The victim had filed a case alleging that her friend’s father and his accomplices had kidnapped her brother and herself.

Agri sector: Punjab takes steps to protect women employees’ rights

LAHORE: Agriculture Department, Punjab is taking all possible measures to ensure the protection of the rights of women employees.

In this regard, the code of conduct issued by Punjab government for women empowerment should be followed in letter & spirit.

These views were expressed by the Additional Secretary, Agriculture. (Admin) Umer Sher Chattha while presided over a meeting held at Agriculture House, Lahore regarding Women Empowerment.

He further said that all the wings of Agriculture Department have been instructed to follow these codes of conduct related to the rights of women employees. These codes of conduct bind all employees and provide guidance so that women employees can perform their services in the organization without any fear and harassment.

On this occasion, Additional Secretary, Agriculture (Admin) Umer Sher directed to notify committees in all the wings of Agriculture Department in which 33 percent of representation should be given to women employees. In addition, all the sub-departments should allocate separate prayer areas and washrooms for women and take immediate action in this regard.

The additional secretary made it clear that on receiving any complaint of any untoward incident, immediate action will be taken according to this code of conduct.

He said a day care centre for women employees had been established in the department which was being activated immediately and arrangements were being made for better care of the children with all the facilities for their children.
