Woman gang-raped for 10 days in Punjab’s Lodhran

BAHAWALPUR: A beggar woman was allegedly abducted and gang-raped for 10 days in Lodhran by five people, three of whom were arrested by the police on Sunday.

According to the Lodhran police, the alleged rape survivor was acquainted with the main suspect, a motorcycle-rickshaw driver, with whom she used to beg in rural areas daily.

Last week, he allegedly abducted her during their usual journey and took her to a house in a village within the jurisdiction of the Lodhran Saddar police. On her disappearance, a case of abduction was registered on her husband’s complaint.

After 10 days, the rape survivor managed to escape and returned home, informing her husband of her abduction and rape by the suspects. Following her medical examination, it was confirmed that she had been gang-raped.

The police have arrested three of the five suspects and are searching for the remaining two. In light of the new evidence, the FIR registered under section 365 PPC for abduction will include the rape section 376 of the PPC.

Woman Shot Dead upon Remarrying

A woman was shot dead at a house in Sherpao Colony in the Quaidabad area. Police and rescue volunteers reached the scene and transported the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).

SHO Amin Solangi said the victim had been identified as 45-year-old Naheed, wife of Raja Sajid Mehmood. Her relative told police that she was in another room when she heard gunshots, and when she came out, Naheed was lying on the ground.

Police said the deceased woman had remarried and there was a dispute in the family. Further investigations are underway. Meanwhile, the two-day-old body of a police official’s wife was found in a house in the Kala Board area of Malir.

Police said 45-year-old Farah Khan, who was the mother of two daughters and a son, had committed suicide by hanging herself with a rope. Police added that they had to break open the door of the house to seize the body, which was shifted to the JPMC.

The deceased woman’s husband Qadir Ahmad Khan is a police official posted at the Special Branch at the airport police station. The couple’s elder daughter has completed MBBS and the younger one is an engineering student.

The deceased woman’s husband said his wife used to fight with him over petty issues and had also attacked him and the children with a vegetable cutter. He added that two days ago, his wife ran at her daughter with a knife, after which the three children left the house.

He explained that later when he came to the house, his wife also tried to attack him with a knife after which he reported her unruly behaviour at the Saudabad police station. He claimed that he and his children spent two days in the parking area of the airport.

The investigators, however, said the husband’s statement was suspicious. They added that facts would come out when the post-mortem report would be released.

Civil judge’s wife accused of torturing minor girl in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD – An extremely distressing incident surfaced in Islamabad as the wife of a civil judge allegedly tortured a minor maid.

It has been learned that a poverty-stricken family takes the help of a man named Mukhtar to get a domestic help job for her 14-year-old identified as Rizwana.

The parents of the victim alleged that wife of civil judge Asim Hafeez assaulted her badly, leaving the minor girl in a miserable condition.

Rizwana’s mother decried torture marks all over her body including her head, and she was filmed in a really bad state, prompting action from the police and local authorities.

The parent of the girl alleged that the family of a civil judge lashed the girl by falsely accusing her of theft. The victim was first shifted to DHQ Teaching Hospital Sargodha but was later shifted to Lahore.

Amid the outrage, the civil judge, who is currently appointed to Judicial Academy, denied all accusations of violence, saying his wife’s gold was missing but ruled out any physical violence on the child.

He maintained that the child was not tortured, but was handed over to her mother, who beat her.

FIA arrests man for harassing a woman in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD – The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle, Hyderabad on Monday arrested a man for harassing a woman. According to the FIA, Ghufran Ali was blackmailing the woman by sending objectionable content to her on WhatsApp. The agency officials also recovered the cellphone as well as the SIM from the suspect. Later, the case was registered against him under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
