Mob attacks restaurant, harass women

 

LAHORE: A furious group of men attacked and broke down the valuables of a restaurant after the restaurant owner stopped them from harassing women in the Defence C area Tuesday. According to the complainant, Ahmad Khan, a group of unidentified men visited his restaurant and harassed the women. They also manhandled and tortured the victims. When stopped, they were annoyed and called their friends on phone. Police are searching for the suspects.

A 10-year-old boy, identified as Joseph, died after falling down from a roof in Township. The victim, who was playing on the third floor, fell down when his feet slipped. He received fatal injuries that claimed his life.

Shafiqabad Police have arrested two members of a dacoit gang identified as Sher Dil and Jaan Shah on Tuesday. Police also recovered five mobile phones, illegal weapons and cash from their custody.

In another incident, Model Town Division police have arrested 51 suspects during a crackdown. The arrested suspects included 11 proclaimed offenders (six A-category, nine B category), eight were history sheeters, four for kite-flying, five involved in aerial firing and illegal weapons etc.

Police have yet to find a trace of the suspects involved in theft of over Rs50 million in a jewelry shop in Sundar area three days back.

The victim identified as Umair Ahmad had filed a complaint before police that three days back, as he was returning home after watching film with his family, when he noticed that his shop’s gate had been damaged. When he checked inside the shop, he found that valuables, gold, cash worth over Rs50 million had been stolen by the burglars.

Around 11 people died, whereas 1,651 were injured in 1,523 road accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Out of this, 936 people were seriously injured who were shifted to different hospitals.

The statistics showed that 300 road accidents were reported in Lahore, which affected 320 persons placing the provincial capital at top of the list followed by 124 in Faisalabad with 138 victims and Gujranwala is at third with 91 accidents and 89 victims.

The bodies of two persons were recovered from different parts of provincial capital on Tuesday.

The body of a 35-year-old man was recovered from Lorry Adda bus stand. Police claimed that the man, yet to be identified, might have died of excessive use of drugs. In another incident, an old man was found dead in the limits of Mozang police.

The victim was identified as Pervaiz. Some locals spotted the body and informed the police while the Edhi volunteers shifted the bodies to the mortuary.

Man beats wife, shaves off her head in Clifton

 

A man shaved off his wife’s head in the Clifton neighbourhood. Police have registered a case against the man on the complaint of his wife.

According to details, during a domestic dispute in Clifton’s Shah Rasool Colony, which falls within the jurisdiction of the Boat Basin police station, a man beat his wife and shaved off her head.

According to the FIR, the complainant named Farzana said she works as domestic help at different houses and her husband Saeed works at a shopping mall. “My husband keeps beating me, quarrelling with me every day,” she told the police. “On April 24, when my husband returned from work, I asked him to take our daughter to a hairdresser because her hair has grown long, so he beat me for that.”

She said that after beating her, her husband shaved off her head and threatened her with dire consequences. The suspect escaped after the incident. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation.

Man gets death for killing wife

MIRPURKHAS: The Model Criminal Trial Court of Mirpurkhas on Friday sentenced to death a man after he was proved guilty of killing his wife in 2020. He was also ordered to pay a fine of Rs500,000.

The trial court judge said in his judgement that the prosecution successfully proved its case against Kewal Kolhi, who had killed his wife, Marri Kolhi, with repeated blows of a club in 2020. A case was registered against him at the Taluka police station on the complaint of the woman’s father, Bheemo Kolhi.

The convict was escorted to the Mirpurkhas Central Prison after the judgement was pronounced.

Man awarded death for minor daughter’s rape

RAHIM YAR KHAN: A man was sentence to death on Friday for raping his own minor daughter in Sadiqabad.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Moeen Khokhar announced the verdict against Pervaiz Shehzad, a resident of Mustafa Town of Sadiqabad that included Rs0.5m fine.

The case was registered with the City Police Station in January this year on the complaint of the maternal grandfather of the 13-year-old victim.

The convict shall also pay Rs1m as compensation to the victim and in the case of default of the payment, he would undergo six months further imprisonment and the fine and compensation amount would be recovered from his land revenue.

The convict was also penalised under Section 377-B of PPC with 25 years jail term and Rs1m fine.

Man kills sister for ‘honour’

LAHORE: A woman was allegedly shot dead by her brother for honour in Badami Bagh. Reportedly, the victim ‘N’ in Muslim Park had contracted a marriage of her choice for the second time. Few years back, she had married a man and divorced. She again married another man of her choice. Her brother, the suspect identified as Ikram, was so agitated that he opened fire. The victim received injuries and died. Police removed the body to morgue. —Correspondent
