Woman found dead in abandoned car

A young woman was found dead in a car parked outside a private hospital in Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Steel Town, late on Monday, according to police.

Local residents reported the shocking discovery to police who shifted the body to Jinnah Hospital where it was identified as 25-year-old Faiza, daughter of Rafiq, the SHO Steel Town police station said.

He added that Faiza had divorced her husband, Asad, one and a half year ago, while her father is also a deceased and she was staying at her maternal uncle’s house in Gulshan-e-Hadeed. Two days ago, Faiza left with her friend, Hassan, to take his ailing mother to hospital but did not return, her uncle told the police.

Hassan has also been missing since he took Faiza with him in his car, though he had informed Faiza’s uncle that she was going with him, the SHO said. According to police, Faiza’s friend brought her to hospital in his car, but later fled when she was pronounced dead by doctors. Faiza’s uncle claimed that his niece died of natural causes and that he did not want to pursue any legal action.

Man killed two months after wife’s murder

A man was shot dead after being beaten with a hammer at his house in Shah Latif Town on Tuesday, following his wife’s murder a couple of months ago. Rescuers transported the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for an autopsy where he was identified as 50-year-old Pervaiz Ali Khan.

The Shah Latif police said two men were behind the killing and they managed to escape the scene after committing the crime. They said the victim hailed from Shahdatkot and his wife was killed a few months ago in Korangi, suspecting that they both had been killed over a personal enmity.

Separately, the woman, whose body was found in a car in Gulshan-e-Hadeed, was identified as Faiza. Police said an unidentified person had brought the victim to hospital and escaped after doctors termed the woman dead. The deceased lived with her maternal uncle in Gulshan-e-Hadeed.

Man held for beating nephew, niece for stealing money

Police have arrested a man for beating two schoolchildren. Yasir Gujjar, an official of the Baloch Colony police station, said a video clip of the man beating a schoolgirl and a schoolboy has been circulating on social media for the past few days.

Gujjar said senior police officials ordered tracing the man to put him behind bars, adding that the police expanded their intelligence network, during which they received information about the man residing at a house in Sector-B, Rehman Colony.

Police rushed to the address and arrested the man named Safdar Hussain, as well as took custody of both children. All three were taken to the police station, where the children’s father Akhtar Hussain also arrived later.

Akhtar told the police that his wife had gone back to her home town in Punjab over a domestic issue, and since his was a Watta Satta marriage, his younger sister was sent back to Karachi.

He said that a few days ago, the school where his children study phoned him to tell him that they had a complaint about the children. He added that when he visited the school, he was told that his children had been coming to school with pocket money of Rs500 to Rs1, 000 on a daily basis.

When the father asked the children about it, they admitted to stealing the money from his savings he had been keeping at the house. On returning home, he told his younger brother Safdar to keep an eye on the children.

When Akhtar left for work, Safdar started beating the children, while his younger sister recorded the video of the incident and sent it to the children’s mother, asking her to return home. However, the mother uploaded the video clip to social media. Police said the children have been handed over to the Sindh Social Welfare Department, who along with the Child Protection Bureau are now engaged in the necessary paperwork to pursue the case under the Sindh Prohibition of Corporal Punishment Act 2016.

Three women raped

LAHORE: At least three cases of rape were reported in the city. The first case was reported in Gujjarpura where a suspect raped a married special woman. The suspect identified as Sadaqat allegedly raped the woman in a Haveli. In the second incident reported in Iqbal Town, a suspect raped his cousin. The suspect allegedly entered her house and raped her after finding the victim alone. In the third incident, a suspect lured a woman in Green Town on pretext of offering her a job. When she reached his place, he raped her.

Booked for bribe: Assistant Director (admin) of Education Department Husnain Mubasher has been booked by Anti-Corruption Department for allegedly taking bribe. On the directions of Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) DG, Director Anti-Corruption Establishment Gujranwala Region Muhammad Zaman under the supervision of a judicial magistrate, Gujranwala, has conducted a trap raid and arrested accused Husnain Mubasher, son of Mubasher Ahmad Cheema, Assistant Director (Admin) CEO Office Education BPS-17 for taking bribe of Rs 20,000 and tainted amount was recovered from the accused. A case 12/2022 U/S 161 PPC 5/2/47 PCA PS ACE/Gujranwala has been registered against the accused for receiving bribe from a complainant for clearance of his service record.

Two robbers arrested: Sattokatla police arrested two members of bikes and valuables snatchers here on Tuesday. The suspects identified as Waqas alias Jaidi and Bilal Shah were arrested by Punjab Housing Society Chowki police. The suspects are involved in snatching of bikes, purse and other valuables. At least Rs1million, two bikes, six mobile phones, artificial jewelry and illegal weapons were recovered from them. The suspects have been found involved in over 50 robbery bids.

Case against man for rape attempt

OKARA: The Saddar police have registered a case against a man who allegedly tried to rape a child.

According to the FIR, a minor boy went to an adjacent house where the suspect tried to rape him. As the mother and sister of the boy came there, the suspect fled.

On the report of the child’s father, police registered a case under section 376 and 511 PPC against the neighbour.
