A 15-year-old girl raped and murdered

LAHORE: A 15-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped, raped and then killed by her ‘boyfriend’ and another friend of the girl in the Shahdara police precinct on Saturday, said police.

Shahdara circle Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Khwaja Zahid said some locals informed the police about a naked but burnt body of an unidentified girl lying in the fields near Sitara Colony, Shahdara. The DSP said the girl was identified as Sumaira, a resident of Begam Kot. He said it seemed the girl was raped and then strangled.

He said the girl was missing for the last three days and her father Abdul Ghafoor had already filed a complaint of kidnapping with the police. “Abdul Ghafoor nominated their neighbour, Sumaira’s colleague, namely Muhammad Khan alias Badshah and a close friend of the deceased namely Aisha in the FIR,” he said.

He said Sumaira, Aisha and Muhammad Khan were working in a plastic bag factory in Shahdara. “According to the father, Aisha was notorious for her loose character in the area,” he said.

He said the father told police that Aisha had enticed Sumaira into going along with them. “The police have arrested Khan for investigation,” he said, adding the police were waiting for the autopsy report. He said the police registered a case of murder against Khan and Aisha on the complaint of Abdul Ghafoor.

He said that according to the initial interrogation, Sumaira and Khan were committed and the victim eloped with Khan of her own will. He said the reason behind the killing was yet unknown.
