2 women sexually assaulted in separate incidents in twin cities

Islamabad – Two women were sexually assaulted in two separate incidents in twin cities while another woman and a teenager were kidnapped here on Tuesday, informed sources.

Police registered cases on complaints of victims against the accused and started investigation, they said. According to sources, a woman lodged a complaint with Police Station Karachi Company stating she was heading towards her home at 7pm on September 19 from her workplace at F-7/2 when a silver car stopped near her. She added that the driver of the car asked her about her destination which she told him on which he offered her a lift up to her house. “I sat in the car and the man drove me to the parking lot of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences where he raped me at gunpoint,” she told police. The victim added the rapist also got her cell number and was now calling her and hurling threats of dire consequences. She appealed to police to register a case against the accused and to arrest him, sources said.

Police have registered a case against the accused and are making efforts to arrest him, according to a police spokesman.  In yet another incident, a man raped a woman in a hotel room at Peshawar Road after luring her for a job. The incident took place within the jurisdiction of PS Race Course. According to sources, a woman, residing in Lahore, told officials of PS Race Course that she met a man namely Muhammad Waseem in an event in Lahore where he offered her a job in Rawalpindi. She added she arrived in Rawalpindi on the call of Waseem for a job. “Waseem took me into a hotel room for an interview but raped me forcefully,” she alleged. She said the rapist managed to flee from the scene after committing the crime. Police lodged a First Information Report against the accused and began investigation.

Spokesman to CPO Rawalpindi, SI Sajjad ul Hassan, told media that a police team, led by SDPO Cantt Circle, visited the crime scene and collected evidence from there. He said the woman was brought to the hospital for a medical and the doctors confirmed she was assaulted sexually. A case has been registered against the accused while further investigation was on, he said. Similarly, Airport police held a man involved in attempting to assault his five-year-old niece.

The accused has been identified as Ansar Mehmood, against whom a case has been registered, the spokesman said. In Islamabad, a 23-year-old woman was kidnapped from Haji Camp, the area of PS Noon, whereas, another 14-year-old boy Mehtab Ullah was also abducted from Maira Jafar, from the limits of PS Golra.

Police registered separate cases against the accused and began investigation.
