2 held for allegedly raping 4 girls

RAWALPINDI: Police Tuesday apprehended two persons, for allegedly raping four girls on gunpoint from a house located here at Tulsa Road, in the limits of Police Station Civil Line.

However, `other three accused managed to escape from the scene. One of the arrested persons was identified as Malik Firdos. According to initial statements, of the four victimized girls-Sadaf Bibi, Nadia Khan, Faiza and Saima, aged between 20 to 25-they worked cosmetics sellers in Wah Cantt and Malik Firdos lured them that he would provide them with jobs in an NGO in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. They said he brought them to a house here and raped them on gunpoint. They said they somehow managed to run out of the house and made hue and cry in front of locals to seek their help. On this, scores of locals gathered outside the house and informed the police, who rushed to the scene and took two of the accused- Malik Firdous and one of his accomplices, into custody.

The police also recovered a van, three Ak-47 rifles and one repeater from the house that had its walls sealed with barbed wire. It was also learnt that the police also found close circuit television (CCTV) cameras in- stalled in the house located in the cantonment area.

The residents of the area informed that they always suspected the activities of Firdous and were surprised about the security measures taken for the safety of his house.

Talking to The Nation, SP Potohar Town Haroon Joya said apparently it was the case of abduction and gang rape. As the girls were accusing the men of raping the FIR would only be lodged after the medical examination of the victim girls, he added. Police also informed that Malik Firdous was a proclaimed offender and wanted in several criminal cases. Police did not bring the girls to hospital for medical examination till the filing of this report.
