ATTOCK: The Attock police rescued two children kidnapped last week and also arrested the woman who allegedly kidnapped them, DSP Tanveer Ahmed Malik said on Thursday.
According to DSP Malik, on July 23, a resident of Hassanabdal, Abdul Ejaz Ahmed who drives a van for a living, was taking passengers from Rawalpindi to Hassanabdal when he met a woman named Anum. She is reported to have told him that she has issues with her husband and has nowhere to go.
Mr Ahmed took her home and introduced her to his wife. Anum stayed the night at his house and got familiar with his five-year-old daughter Mahnoor Fatima and a year and a half-year-old son Haider Abbas.
The next day, the children went to get ice from the neighbours and Anum kidnapped them from outside their home.
Their parents filed a report with the local police, who registered a case.
District Police Officer Hassan Asad Alvi organised a special investigation team under the command of DSP Tanveer Ahmed Malik, which conducted raids on various hotels, motels, Golra Shareef, Sara-i-Kharbooza, homes and other places.
The accused woman is a resident of Rawalpindi and took the children to a rented house in Attock.
DSP Malik said it took seven days for the investigation team to find the children. Initial investigations suggest the woman kept the children in a graveyard for two days.
DPO Alvi applauded the team for their work and announced a cash prize for all members.
