LAHORE: Another 16-year-old maid was strangled to death allegedly after being raped in the Faisal Town police limits on Sunday, just three days after an orphan minor maid was tortured to death by her employer in Askari 9 flats in North Cantt police area.
Police removed the body to the city mortuary for an autopsy and registered a case against three real brothers – Asim, Atif and Babar – on the complaint of the deceased’s mother, Shamim Bibi, on the charges of murder and rape. However, no arrests could be made till the filing of this report.
The deceased, identified as Azra, a resident of Pattoki, was working as a maid for the last three months at a house in the Mochipura area of Faisal Town.
The investigation officer said that the maid was found lying on the stairs of the house with a rope around her neck.
He said that Shoukat Sheikh, the owner of the house, informed the police on the phone that his maid committed suicide over unknown reasons.
However, police did not believe the owner’s statement, as there was no hook or other support at the crime scene which the victim allegedly used to hang herself.
Police said that Azra’s mother believed that her daughter was raped and then murdered. Police collected evidence from the crime scene and started investigation on different angels.
Police said the cause of death would be ascertained after a comprehensive investigation and the post-mortem report.
Just three days ago, a 10-year-old maid named Eram Ramzan, hailing from Moza Jandra Okara, was found dead in the house of Altaf Mehmood in Askari 9. According to the victim’s mother, the owner of the house, his wife Nasira and their son Muhammad Ibrar, along with two unidentified accomplices, tortured her daughter to death.
She said that her daughter had been working at the house for the past three months. Sources said that her hands were tied, and that the body had torture marks.
