12m home-based workers in country

Karachi: There are about 12 million home-based workers in the country and 70 percent of them are women. This was stated by the Sindh Labour Minister, Amir Nawab Khan, on Wednesday.

He was presiding over a meeting pertaining to legislation regarding home-based workers. The Executive Director of Homenet (Pakistan), Umme Laila, and Rubina Brohi of Aurat Foundation also attended the meeting. The Minister said that legislation would be carried out for the rights of the home-based workers and for provision of academic and health facilities to them.
