LAHORE: A 12-year-old girl, who has been missing for three months, was admitted to Jinnah Hospital for injuries induced by rape on Friday.

Johar Town Police investigation official Ghulam Muhammad said a local barber had kidnapped the victim, who had then sold her to a woman who ran a brothel in Faisalabad.

Muhammad said the girl had then been sexually assaulted by dozens of people during her captivity. On Friday, he said, she escaped and was transferred to hospital by Faisalabad police. The girl informed police officials of her situation, who contacted Johar Town police and moved her to Lahore.

Police official Ghulam Hussain said a police team had been dispatched to Muzaffarabad to arrest the man responsible for the kidnapping. A case has been registered against him on the complaint of the victim’s father.
