Woman stabbed to death in Steel Town

KARACHI: A woman was stabbed to death in her Steel Town residence on Saturday, police said.

They said that Shamim Bibi, in her mid-thirties, was allegedly killed by her two sons from her former husband.

“The woman got a divorce from her first husband and married Abdul Ghafoor Khan a couple of months ago,” said Inspector Raja Aslam, the SHO of the Steel Town police station.

“Her second marriage strained her relations with her two teenage sons, Saeed Mir and Muhammad Mir, and they often had altercations with her.”

One of the two sons, he said, came to see his mother on Friday and stayed overnight. On Saturday morning when her husband left for work, her second son also came to her house.

“According to some neighbours, both brothers stayed at her home located in the Filter Plant Colony near Steel Town. They had some arguments and finally attacked her with a knife,” said the area SHO.

“The woman was wounded badly. Her sons managed to escape and several area people saw them fleeing.”

The injured woman died while being shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, he said, adding that the police had enough evidence to register a case against the two brothers.

“We are waiting for the family to lodge an FIR. But if they don’t come, the case would be registered against the two brothers on behalf of the state,” he added.
