Teenage girl wins swimming championship

Karachi: A teenage girl from Karachi has won the 21st Sindh Women’s Swimming Championship.

Hoor Asrar Rauf, a student of the Beaconhouse School System, acquired three gold medals in the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke championship in the under-16 category. She also participated in the open age group of the same event and bagged three silver medals.

The young girl has represented the Pakistan Army in national competitions as well as competed in the Commonwealth Youth Games in India and Bangladesh.She has also trained in the United States alongside Olympic gold medallist Michael Phelps as well as attended a swimming camp where she was trained by Phelps’ coach Bob Bowman. She has been trained by coaches from Australia, China and the United Kingdom. She was chosen to represent the Pakistani team in the world championship in Rome and Dubai.
