Sleeping pills: Two women killed

KARACHI: The police arrested a young woman and her boyfriend for allegedly killing her sister and sister-in-law over a dispute at their house in Orangi Town on Monday.

Sunbul Shaan, 30, and her sister-in-law, Sadaf Shahnawaz, 35, were found dead inside their house near Shah Faisal Chowk.

Both women were murdered by a sharp-edged dagger, according to a police official. “We have arrested Sunbal’s younger sister and her boyfriend,” stated Pakistan Bazaar police station inquiry officer Muhammad Ali, adding that Naseema and Anis had been in love since the past few years but the woman’s family had rejected his marriage proposal.

Anis reportedly admitted to the crime in his initial police statement, saying that Naseema’s sister and sister-in-law were creating obstacles in their marriage. “We tried to convince them but they were stubborn, so we killed them,” the accused revealed, according to the police.
