Police accused of detaining eight women

HYDERABAD, Nov 27: A student of Sindh University has accused police of taking away eight women of his family after ransacking their homes in the Haji Khair Mohammad Khokhar village of Tando Allahyar district on suspicion that one of their close relatives was involved in the kidnapping of EDO Health Dr Jalil Bachani.

Speaking at a news conference at the press club on Thursday, Hadi Bux Khokhar alleged that police violated the sanctity of family and home and also took away 500 grammes of gold, 30 buffaloes, cows and other cattle worth millions of rupees.

A heavy contingent of police from Tandojam, Tando Allahyar, Hyderabad and Nawabshah besieged and ransacked their houses on Nov 24 after the kidnapping of EDO, he said.

They subjected men, women and children to torture and took away Ms Imamzadi, Shamim, Latifan, Allah Wassai, Hawa, Mirzadi, Sadori and Husna who were being held incommunicado till this day.

He said that four children Abdul Khaliq, Abdul Maalik, Aslam and Abdul Qudoos, were also missing, who had either been taken away by police or had run away due to fear. He appealed to the president and Sindh chief minister to order recovery of women.

To a question, he said that police suspected that one of his close relatives, Haji Wakeel, was involved in the kidnapping and said that his whereabouts were also not known.
