People’s Medical College Nurses ProtestCollege

NAWABSHAH: The nursing staff of the People’s Medical College Hospital (PMCH) took out a protest rally and observed a token strike to press for the acceptance of their demands on Monday. The call for the protest was given by Sindh Nurses Association (SNA). The demands of the protesters included increase in their salaries.

The rally commenced from the PMCH in scorching heat and terminated at the Nawabshah Press Club. Addressing the participants, Nurse Rabia said the nurses serve the patients round-the-clock without taking rest but despite that the salaries of nurses are shamefully as low as Rs1,500 per month, while the salary of the training teacher is paid by deduction in salaries of the nurses. She pointed out that the salary of nurses in the Punjab and Balochistan was Rs10,000. The SNA leader said the nurses will continue their protest till their salary was enhanced.
