LAHORE: A mother of four girls ended her life by setting herself ablaze in reaction to domestic violence in Ghaziabad, police said on Monday.
According to police, 40-year-old Shamim Bibi set herself on fire by sprinkling kerosene oil shortly after she was brutally beaten by her husband over a domestic dispute. The resident of Hussain Pura was rushed to hospital in serious condition where she succumbed to burns after a few hours.
Police investigators said that Muhammad Amin, husband of the deceased, tortured her over minor domestic issues. Locals told the police that the man was a drug addict jobless. The police have removed the body to the morgue for autopsy and are investigating.
