Court holds police and HMC administration responsible for negligence. The daily Kawish reported that Bhan, along with her children, held a protest outside the Moro Press Club on Sunday and demanded that a case be registered against Abbasi immediately.

MORO: Police head constable Hamida Bhan has alleged that her boss, DSP Alan Khan Abbasi, attempted to rape her on January 5 and the police were not registering her case. For his part, the DSP has denied all allegations and claimed that Bhan had levelled similar allegations before against other people.

The daily Kawish reported that Bhan, along with her children, held a protest outside the Moro Press Club on Sunday and demanded that a case be registered against Abbasi immediately.

While speaking to The Express Tribune, Bhan said that she contacted several officials but no one heard her complaints. “All officials are together and they don’t want to take action against Abbasi,” she claimed.

She alleged that Abbasi called her to his bungalow and attempted to rape her. “I managed to escape. We have nothing but honour, but there is no justice. My FIR was not registered therefore I approached the court,” she said.

“The court has ordered the police to lodge an FIR.” The police constable has been working for the last nine years and her husband, Ghulam Mustafa Bhan, has also been a police constable, for the last 18 years. “We have never seen such a criminal police official ever. First, he tried to rape me and when I contacted higher officials, he registered cases against my husband and me,” she maintained.

She also claimed that her husband had gone missing for three days. “I don’t know where he is now and I suspect Abbasi has kidnapped him.”

For his part, Abbasi said that Hamida was “corrupt”. “She used to run a brothel in the police station and when I ordered her to stop she retaliated,” he told The Express Tribune. “Now, she is saying I am a bad character. She is lying and anyone can ask other officials who faced the same kinds of allegations by Hamida.”

He claimed that her husband was wanted in two cases. “Why would I kidnap him? We are the police and our duty is to arrest kidnappers,” he said, adding that she had been advised to register an FIR against him. “The police station is open for her but she is in hiding and blackmailing [me].”

Bhan said that her FIR was not registered by SHO Hakam Jalbani, but Jalbani told The Express Tribune that she had not even visited the police station. “She is lying,” he said.
