LHC takes notice of acid throwing incident

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Thursday took notice of an incident of throwing acid on a man for having an affair with a woman and directed the Sessions Judge Muzaffargarh to probe the matter and submit a detailed report.

Muhammad Abdur Rauf, a resident of Gujrat Colony, Kot Addu, used to visit a woman in the nearby area of Sarwanwala village and was noticed by two brothers, Tariq and Munir, the woman’s neighbours. One night, the two brothers along with their three unidentified accomplices stopped Abdur Rauf and took him to a house where they threw acid at him.

Doctors said that the attackers used almost a litre acid due to which the victim had more than 50 percent burns and his eyes and face were badly affected. Police had registered a case against the main suspects and their unidentified companions. Munir had been arrested while the other accused persons are still at large. The LHC Complaint Cell took a serious notice of the news item published in a section of the press and directed the D&SJ to submit a report within a week.
