Gilani, Sharif asked to help recover kidnapped girl

ISLAMABAD, Jan 1: An employee of the Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) here on Thursday sought government’s help in recovering his daughter, who has allegedly been kidnapped by a low-ranking official in the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.

Speaking in a news conference at the National Press Club’s camp office in Islamabad, the distraught parents settled in Wah Cantonment alleged that their 18-year-old daughter (RF) was kidnapped by a PM Secretariat’s naib qasid, IH, on December 20 when she was going to her college.

The POF employee said his elder daughter was engaged to the accused, but they broke off the engagement as they suspected that their would-be son-in-law was involved in immoral activities.

Consequently, the accused along with his cousin (AH), a waiter at Chief Minister’s House in Lahore, started threatening the family with dire consequences and asked for reengagement, he alleged.

Later, the accused along with his mother kidnapped his ex-fiancée’s sister to build pressure on him for reengagement, the father said, adding that the Wah Cantonment police had registered a case after he lodged a complaint.

Though the names of the accused were clearly mentioned in the First Information Report (FIR), the police failed to take any action against them due to their influence.

The POF employee claimed he visited the Chief Minister’s House in Lahore, but was not allowed to meet the officials and file a complaint as one of the relatives of the accused was deployed there as a security officer.

He also submitted a complaint in the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, but no action had been taken as yet.

The father said it would be wrong to say that the prime minister, Punjab chief minister and PML-N chief were patronising the accused as they were believed to be unaware of the issue.

But, he said, once getting information about the incident, they should take notice of the crime committed by people indirectly attached with them.

He also appealed to Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to help him in safely recovering his teenage daughter.

“I have fears that my kidnapped daughter might be killed or he (the accused) might force her into marrying him,” the distressed father said.
